Thiensville Trustee Questionnaire

  1. What are the biggest challenges facing the Village and what changes would you attempt to address them?

Kristina Eckert - Our biggest challenge right now is planning for the future of our fire department. Many Fire and EMS departments are finding it challenging to recruit and retain volunteer and paid on call employees.

We are addressing this issue by studying options and diligently looking at all possible scenarios. Staying with the current model does not appear to be sustainable so we may need to adapt a policy that will require a referendum.

  2. How would you specifically try to improve transparency on issues important to the village?

Kristina Eckert - I truly feel as if the Village does a great job communicating with residents if they know where to look. The information is there, but not everyone goes about looking for it the same way. The village sends out emails, there’s a very informative website including a form for feedback and comments. You can even sign up to receive texts. The administrative staff, the Village President, and the trustees are available for questions. All board meetings and minutes are posted for viewing. As a current trustee, I’m open to any suggestions the community has in passing along information in other avenues we aren’t currently using.

  3. What experience do you have that makes you a good fit for this office?

Kristina Eckert - I have served on the Village board the past three years. I am also a board member of the Thiensville business Association which allows me to represent the many small businesses that make up our village including my own. I have an open mind and an ability to discuss difficult topics with sensitivity and clarity. I am responsive to inquiries from residents. I lead by example and try to inspire public participation. I am passionate about Thiensville and want to continue working with the board to maintain all the qualities that make this a great place to thrive!
