Runaway Inequality, Mass Incarceration, Global Warming,
Voter Suppression, The New Jim Crow, War & Peace

Some of the issues and problems of our lifetime. The list could go on. What creates these problems? What makes them tick? What can we do to overcome them?

GRNS is starting a book club to better understand the world we live in and to learn what actions we can take to make it better.

Our club will meet regularly to address issues as decided by its participants. Meetings will be at the GRNS office, 5600 West Brown Deer Road, Suite 116.

Our first meeting will examine these questions: What is the cost of increasing runaway economic inequality in our country? What is causing it? How does it affect our economy, our politics and our society? Can it be corrected and if so, how? Please join us in a two-hour discussion focused on the book, Runaway Inequality: An activist’s Guide to Economic Justice, by Les Leopold.

You will need to read Runaway Inequality before the session. It is a quick and easy read. To support independent book stores we encourage you to buy your book from Boswell’s Book Store located at 2559 N. Downer Ave., Milwaukee. The phone number is (414) 3312-118. It may be available in your local library. If not, ask them to carry it.

You do not need to be a member of Grassroots North Shore to participate. The program is open to the public. But please RSVP before January 15. Participation limited to 10.

If the session has been filled, we may hold a second session on Saturday, February 3, from 9:30-11:30am. Please send an email to Norma Gilson if you are interested in the February 3 date or if you'd really like to participate but neither date/time will work for you.
