My name is Lisa Walker and I have resided in Brown Deer for the past 19 years. I am married and have two children. My daughter graduated from BDHS in 2021 and my son is 15 and in the 9th grade. My husband and I work fulltime. We have spent many hours supporting our children scholastically and athletically. I see the importance of continuing the great things about our school district, and working to fix some of the needs, for all levels in the school district.
I want to state that I am NOT a politician. I am running for school board because I am concerned about the educational achievement of students in the district and want to ensure our children obtain the best education possible to prepare them for the future.
- Raise scholastic achievement by making the right decisions to help our children.
- Build open communication between the board and the community.
- Be the voice of the parents and the students.
- Find ways to stop the violence. End the fighting and bullying in our schools.
- Protect our students and staff. Address Covid concerns.
We all know that times have changed and there are a lot of challenges that we face daily. We rely on open communication in all facets of our life.
School board meetings are important to parents, even if they cannot attend the meetings in person. Parents would like to stay informed and hold board members accountable. One of my promises is to make sure school board meeting minutes are posted and available in a timely manner. I know this is a concern of many parents.
I am a candidate who has an open mind and a willingness to listen and learn. The board needs to listen to the voices of the administrators, teachers, parents, and students.
I don’t have all of the answers and I won’t to try to convince you that I do. I am dedicated to do my best to continue to build a strong, healthy, and viable school district.
I am just a working mom who wants to get things done.
Please consider a vote for me for Brown Deer School Board on April 5, 2022.
